(Lachine, QC) 1 July 2014 – Pierrick Naud (Garneau-Quebecor) won the fourth stage of the 37th season of Tuesdays Cyclists presented by Jean Coutu. Félix Côté-Bouvette (Veloselect) followed closely in second place and Yohan Patry (Transport Lacombe), third. Guillaume Boivin (Cannondale) who animated the second part of the race, finished fourth. Boivin rides for an Italian WorldTour team and his presence on the start line was big news.

« Yes, I’m surprised and not » Naud explained after his victory. « It was an aggressive race and when Guillaume broke to the front, I monitored him closely. I did not hesitate to join the breakaway group and I saw that I was fresher than Guillaume. But my goal is to help my team-mate Simon (Lambert-Lemay) to retain his yellow jersey. I will miss the race here next week …”
« It was a tough race, » admitted Côté-Bouvette. « ` We knew that Guillaume wanted to do something. He drilled it after the big crash (involving Boivin and thirty other cyclists) but I managed to bridge to the breakaway group. After that, it was rather a question of survival and I did not want to pull (the group) too much. I am just happy to get back in shape after breaking both elbows in Normandy two months ago. “
Simon Lambert-Lemay (Garneau-Quebecor) still leads thegeneral classification(GC)with368cumulativepoints after four stages.Naudfollowswith341points, andStephenKeeping(TransportLacombe) is third with268.
Nearly 90 cyclists took place on the line pro-elite men start, including one woman, Catherine Dessureault (SAS Mazda Magocep), who had just won the women`s 24 km race earlier in the evening. « I could only hang on for about half of the second race, » she conceded.
Still among the women, it was Dessureault`s teammate, Adriane Provost, second and Audrey Bernard third on the podium. Rosalie Cardin(SASMazdaMagocep) who did not finish, hadthe misfortune first tocrashand then to flat the next lap.Provostleads theGC with219 points, followed by Cardinwith120.
Thierry Kirouac Marcassa (NCCH) won among the cadets, even if the rest of his team was in Ontario. Francis Barriault (CWB-Ultimate Bike) finished second and Simon Cournoyer (VC Metropolitan Cycles) finished third. Kirouac Marcassa leads GC with 193 points while Griffin Schwartz (independent) has 134 against 127 for Barriault.
Antoine Dalterio (Hopes Laval Primeau Vélo) won first place in the boys minime race ahead of his team-mate Robin Plamondon., Laurence Barriault(CWB-Ultimate Bike) walked away withthe victoryamong the girls.
The Mardis Cyclistes are presented every Tuesday until August 12, evening of the grand finale. The circuit is located around Lasalle Park in the Montreal borough of Lachine (Bus 90). The minime race begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by the cadets and women, (6 p.m.), ending with the great race to the Pro-Elite Cup at 6:50 p.m. The races are free for spectators.
